Drosera squamosa is a striking rosetted tuberous sundew native to southwestern Western Australia, and a member of the Drosera erythrorhiza complex. It typically forms rosettes with 7–8 oval to round leaves, each reaching 6–10 cm in diameter.
The most distinctive feature of this species is the vivid red margin that outlines its green leaves, a trait that intensifies through the growing season and helps distinguish it from close relatives like D. collina.
Two main forms are recognized: the “laterite growing form” found in the Jarrah Forest, which displays a bold red band regardless of light intensity, and the “sand growing form” near Bunbury and the south coast, which has slightly rounder leaves and a subtler red edge.
The plant grows in dappled shade among leaf litter and does not require bushfires to flower. Its tubers are orange, and it rarely reproduces via stolons.
Available 1st November to 15th March.
Price is for a dormant Tuber.
