Drosera porrecta is a tall, fan-leaved tuberous sundew endemic to Western Australia, particularly from Eneabba and Marchagee south to Pinjarra, including the Darling Range, Mount Cooke, and the Swan Coastal Plain. It grows in deep sandy soils within heathlands and Jarrah forests, often in well-drained, open habitats.

This species is notable for its erect, straight stems that can reach up to 45 cm tall, with whorls of leaves emerging at regular intervals. The lower part of the plant features basal leaves with short petioles, while the upper stems bear clusters of long-petioled leaves from a single node. Flowering plants often produce multiple stems, with a main leafless inflorescence and numerous white flowers blooming from July to September.

D. porrecta is a perennial that survives the dry summer through a dormant underground tuber, typical of the Stolonifera complex. It is easily distinguished from related species like D. stolonifera and D. ramellosa by its leaf whorls and upright growth habit.
