Drosera gigantea, commonly known as the giant sundew, is a striking, tree-like tuberous sundew endemic to Western Australia, ranging from Albany to just south of Geraldton. It grows in sandy soils at the margins of swamps and near granite outcrops, where seasonal moisture supports its growth. This species is one of the largest in the Drosera genus, with mature plants reaching 0.2 to 1 meter tall, branching into a structure that resembles a miniature tree.

D. gigantea is a perennial that survives the hot, dry summer through a dormant underground tuber, which can grow up to 3.8 cm in diameter and extend up to 1 meter deep into the soil. It emerges in late winter with asparagus-like shoots and produces small, shield-shaped carnivorous leaves along its lateral branches.

The plant flowers from August to November, producing delicate white blooms. It prefers humid, damp conditions and is well-suited to greenhouse cultivation, where it can be grown in deep pots to accommodate its long tuber.

Available in 1st December to 15th March.
