Drosera coronata is a captivating species of tuberous sundew native to Western Australia. It thrives in the northern goldfields region, approximately 600 km north of Perth. This area is known for its semi-arid conditions and unique biodiversity, making it an ideal habitat for this carnivorous plant. Drosera coronata typically grows in sandy or loamy soils, often in open, sunlit areas where it can maximize its insect-catching capabilities.

This sundew forms large, flat rosettes that can reach up to 15–20 cm in diameter. Its leaves are oval to slightly elongated and can range in color from green to orange, depending on light exposure and seasonal changes. One of its most distinctive features is the crown-like arrangement of styles around the ovary, which gives the plant its name "coronata." It also produces yellow pollen and has notably large underground tubers that help it survive the dry season.

Drosera coronata is adapted to a Mediterranean to semi-arid climate, with hot, dry summers and cool, wet winters. It is active during the cooler months, typically from October to March, and enters dormancy during the harsh, dry season. This seasonal cycle allows it to conserve energy and moisture, emerging again when conditions are favorable.
